Hi,

I have an issue that might be very easy and obvious to you, or maybe I've misunderstood the concept of in-place mass and then it won't be solved. Anyhow, I have made an in-place mass that is supposed to be a sketch on 6 doors in a custom made cabinet (i'll attach an image).

My problem is that, as they are now, they aren't of any material, meaning they are see-through and won't render, for example. Properties isn't giving me anything to change and using the "add wall/floor/curtain wall"-option is not what i am after. So, is there anyway to just "fill" these transparent shapes with a material?

Thanks in advance

// Simon

Why did you use a mass when it is a cabinet?

If you want an in-place family, then do that and make it be the right category.  Then, as you create the solids, assign a material to them.

See attached image, you should have modeled this as an in-place component not a mass.

Managed to figure it out eventually and created a new family with material parameters.

Good advice, thank you!

I'm having a similar issue.  I used in-place masses to represent buildings around my site, but now I realize that I want them to show all the time and apply materials to them.  Is it possible to convert them to generic model families or something else without having to recreate them all as in-place families? ?

Sorry but you can't, changing to or from the mass category is prohibite, but you can apply a different material to each solid (mass) you have in your project.
