Hi all,

I am trying to model a wood plank railing and have successfully created the railing structure profile I want, but I cannot seam to be able to create a vertical gap in between the planks...

the custom profile I created always spans the entire length of my railing and I want to be able to break it to represent a vertical line or gap that devides the horizontal planks into a few segments.

Any thoughts?

I gues I could draw sepreate railings and place them together but Im sure theres a parametric way to control something like this?

thanks,

The gap will have to be modeled in your Baluster family, I believe.

Thanks for the tip,

I tried that but actually the void is not cutting my custom rails...

I created a new baluster fmaily as a void and tried placing in my railing but its not responding to my rails..

any ideas?

Thanks again

Why model that gap, when you could just assign a model pattern material?

If you really really need that modeled, check this family, it might give you some tips
