Hi All, I am facing a challenging question on how to make a sky light pyramid shape (triangles at all 4 sides and one side is 90 angle with the roof). Couple of issues I am facing when using roof based generic model family: +The void only create opening of the roof when load in to the project but I want it also to cut / create opening of the ceiling which is 6 feet below the roof level. Can I do it with roof based family ? +what is the easiest way to make the pyramid shape (triangles at all 4 sides and one side is 90 angle with the roof) ? I tried to make it with one solid and couple of voids but its really hard to control the void with some parameters(including some formula for my angle : atan(height/width))... + I am thinking also using conceptual mass to build and create some thickness for the pyramid using pattern based. My issue then the mass wont cut the roof and ceiling so everytime i change my parameter( height and width) to get my new shape , I have to update my openings in the roof and the ceilings...lots of work...what the best way to then if I want to go this road ? Thanks so much....

This is just an example, open the family and see how you can create what you want and about this: "The void only create opening of the roof when load in to the project but I want it also to cut / create opening of the ceiling which is 6 feet below the roof level" NO, you'll need to create those openings in your ceiling, roof families can't cut ceilings.
Hope this help.

thanks Typhoon for the family. Very kind of you.
Yes I know I can create opening in the ceiling and even locked the sketch lines to the roof family opening but still alot of work. I have alot of skylights with different sizes...Some one from revit forum mentioned using solid instead of void in the family/assign yes/no paramater then load in and join that solid with the roof and the ceiling then turn it off...will try that technique...
In a meantime, any more ideas/comments are all welcome...thanks everyone again.
