I have downloaded a couple of additional patterns; however, I can not figure out how to view them inside of Revit. Does anyone have any suggestions?

go to settings --> fill patterns. click drafting or model, then new -> custom -> import. navigate to your pattern file and open. click on the pattern name in the import box...you might have to change the scale.

You may import any type of pattern, even from autocad.
Pay atenttion, there are two types of pattern: Drafting and Model.
By editing the PAT file you may change the type.
ex:
*Triangles, Triangular grid
;%TYPE=DRAFTING
0, 0, 0, 0, 0.15
60, 0, 0, 0, 0.15
120, 0, 0, 0, 0.15
or
*Triangles, Triangular grid
;%TYPE=MODEL
0, 0, 0, 0, 0.15
60, 0, 0, 0, 0.15
120, 0, 0, 0, 0.15
