Our project is an IPDT project, the GC is going to bring in a BIM consultant to perform BIM coordination (for exterior), and misc. modeling.
We're evaluating the proposed fee of a consultant.
This is the first time we're hiring a BIM consultant, how much do they charge for doing the above, given if the company of the consultant is a one-man shop. I am looking for an hourly rate.
A range will be fine, please let me know if you're in the same BIM consulting business.

The really good and more know ones, i won't supply any names, run $5,000 dollars plus. but i'm sure there's a whole range of prices and people calling themselves BIM consulants. Some good, some bad. it's just the nature of the beast now. Good Luck with you project.

@coreed
What is the time frame for $5000?
Do you have an idea of the hourly rate?

you'll have have to layout all the projects details to get detail information. that you will have to take up with the consultant. do you want them involved in the project from being to end. do you want 24/7 support. do you want phone support, on site support, etc. there's lots of different supports models and prices vary.

The consultant will be involved in day to day BIM coordination, and followup on all coordination issue (we're design build) pertaining to a certain area of the building.
Other involvement includes occasional support for modeling and advise on BIM.
However, we have already a BIM manager who has setup the project.
Are we talking about $75-$100 or $100-$150 or $150+?

Take a look at archijoy (you can google it). It is a typical portfolio of a consultant/architect with work samples/projects completed and managed remotely. None of this work requires consultant with monthly pay of more than 1800 USD.. I was shocked when I saw all these numbers mentioned above.

I think you are talking 75 to 100 per hour max.
