Is it possible to re-scale an object (a couch for e.g.) like we did in AutoCAD?

I was trying to fit a couch into a room and it just barely fits, so that made me wonder if it is possible to re-scale an object like that. I use Revit 2011. With Cad we would hit a “0.9” scale factor and the couch would magically fit.

Revit is so much better than CAD but it takes a lot of effort to change everything you know for something new.

In order to change sizes, angles, number of elements, etc, you have to create parameters for it. You have different parameters for diferent  situations. You need probably there a constrain of the sides of the couch to a dimension-parameter.

If the object you are talkin about is an imported object (like a couch made in sketchup), you can scale it down simply hitting the "type" button, there is a number indicating the scale and units used.

The short answer is no.  I would look for a different couch!

What you can do, but would prove to be a pain in the curse, is open up the family, and within the famly you can edit the individual geometries of the couch and scale those.  Like the sketch lines for an extrusion can be scaled.

Good families are parametric, so that these geometries and editable externally, by changing numbers assinged to one dimension of an extrusion, for example.
