How can I get the mechanical hood to show in my floor plan as a dashed line?  I need to do this so I can get the special equipment tag to show up on plan.  I created this hood as a ceiling based component and used symbolic lines at the ceiling reference plane.  I originally created this in plan view but it would not show up in my ceiling plan so I had to recreate it as a ceiling based component.  I also adjusted the viewplane on my model where I imported this family component but doesn't work.

any ideas?  I am using Revit 2008.  I attached the family component for your reference.

You need to add an element within you component that will be seen below the cut plane in the project. Confused?

Try this. Add an ‘Invisible model line’ at floor level in your family. Change your cut plane in the plan view so you're not cutting through you range hood and load into project. Now in your project you will see the ‘Invisible line’ in plan so Revit will therefore show the symbolic line from that view (dashed lines). Your Reflected ceiling plan will show as normal.

I would have amended the family and reloaded it but I’ve only got 2011/2012.
