Can anybody tell me where i am going wrong with this generic line array family within the attachment ?
I want to be able to add a new Void every 225mm when i extend the line. the first time i tried to do it i got a error message saying ''THERE IS A CIRCULAR CHAIN OF REFERANCES AMONG THE FORMULAS'' so i decided to start again from fresh but i am getting nowhere with it.
Thanks

i don't understand the logic of your family...
it is a structural framing member nested into a line-base generic model family. Since the beam family is line-based anyways, why load it into another line-based family? You should be able to accomplish everything you need in the beam family.
If I understood the context in which you are using this family, I might be able to help you more.
I say this because you speak of voids, but I think you really mean clear spacing between elements. Please clarify what you intend to use the family for.

Sorry i didnt really explain what i wanted to achieve, im trying to make a windpost column with voids as the hole fixings. the hole fixings (voids) are @ 225c/c, so i wanted to make the windpost to add a new void when it is extended over 225mm.
Im new to families so i thought that you could only do this by using a generic line based family. i want to get used to working with formulas because i dont no very much about the rules and the way you have to type them.
please see the attachment below to have an idea what i mean. i just want the voids to automatically add itself when i increase its height.
thanks for your time

Try this.
Arrayed parameters can be tricky things. To add a parameter to an array, right click on the array line (just under the number) and select 'edit label'
I swapped out the void extrusion for a nested void component (more efficient) and added a parameter for your centres.
open up the file and have a look around.

This time!
There's a good tutorial here on RevitCity http://www.revitcity.com/tutorials/arrays_and_nested/ by Mr Spot. it's from a while back, but still good.
