I have a custom aluminum curtain wall panel which I would like to show with a light gray hatch in elevation.  I have changed the surface pattern for its material to Revit's native "Aluminum" pattern and changed the color to a light gray.  It shows up on my screen properly, but it prints dark black and is very distracting from the rest of the elevation.  I have tried printing in both grayscale and black/white with no luck.  Is there something else I can do?

If your model material hatch is printed at small scales, you will have problems because of density.  The color you picked has nothing to do with the hatch, that is for shaded views. 

You might try over-riding by element in these views but if you have very many instances, that will be a problem.  You might look at just a slid fill hatch, grey - instead of your lined hatch.
