Is it possible to convert an architectural family into a MEP family? I have a light that I want to use, but am unable to because it has to be placed onto an actual ceiling as opposed to a linked ceiling.

Thanks,

Jack

If it requires a ceiling I'd make a small and thin ceiling that can be hidden between your linked ceiling and the light itself. Not sure if it is like Revit Arch 2010 where you can export to AutoCAD then Import from CAD.

Your question is a little confusing. You can create a new MEP family ceiling based and insert the architectural family into it. Thus allowing electrical connections loads and light source options. Regarding the linked ceilings, go ahead and make the ceilings in the MEP model.

I just wanted to check if there was a way to do this without making a ceiling within my model.  It doesn't look like there is, but thanks for your input.
