Lets say I have a dwg that is made up of pipe centerlines for an entire boiler room.  Is there an easy way to import that CAD into Revit MEP and generate pipes from the existing centerlines?

I am pretty new to Revit so any suggestions would be appreciated.

I can get the linework imported but when trying to snap to the line endpoints it projects my selection to the nearest level.

Id ultimately like to be able to go to a 3D view and just create pipes by snapping to the existing dwg centerlines.

Not using MEP but I have some suggestions.  Remember, Revit is 3D and your CAD is probably 2D.  That is why your piping is all on one level.  Therefore, you should only point to these lines and not snap to their ends.

No the CAD is deffinetly in 3D.  I built it in another software package.

I am just trying to teach myself to create a Revit native model using the existing linework.

I have attached a shot of the room which I have already modeled elsewhere.

It can be done, but not easily or automatically. Someday I hope we will be able to pick the centerlines and place pipes, or maybe even a 'convert line to pipe' tool. For now, you just have to suffer through it.
