I've just had my first brush with plug-ins -- using Hatch-22 by mertens3d, and I'm very impressed! instead of fighting with old ACAD pats and converting them to be model, and struggling with scale... I can draw the exact hatch I want, tell it if it's drafting or model, and BAM. Copy/paste perfection into the project. I've now set up a project file on our network that's just a laboratory and library for new patterns. (they reccomend you don't use the plug-in outside of test projects, it's beta)
So I'm wondering if there are any other good suggestions you guys might have, for plug-ins that you've found are real time-savers and a worthwhile addition to the basic Revit software. Testimonials would be great.

Be careful with these. If you have to export to CAD, some of the hatches made from the Revit plugin don't transfer.

Here is a list of plug-ins for Revit. I believe many of them are free (which I tried it in the past) and some are paid version that has trial period.

Where on your drive did you place the Hatch-22 file. He says to place in the 'add ins' folder but there is no such folder. Is the plug in folder the same thing.
A little help...thanks

You need to create a folder on your own under your local "C" drive.
I don't remember exactly how I did it before. you can post your question if needed more help

Viper11,
Were you able to get hatch22 installed and running?
If not, take a look here for the correct location:

no mertens, i have not been able to. I have read over your post, but still hava a question as to where to place the download in order for it to load. For 2011 - I have a 'plug-in' folder but not an add in folder. Are they the same or do you need to create this folder?
thanks

Viper11,
1) What is the full path of this plug-in folder?
2) Can you browse to this folder? Put the full path in the address bar. It might be that your system is hiding these files by default. Let me know if so.
- For Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2011\
- For Vista/Windows 7 - C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2011\
3) To answer your question, plug-in and addins are not the same folder. I'm not sure where plugin is coming from
4) the addins folder should be created for you by Revit. You should not have to create it yourself.

with the help of a database designer I have created a nice door plug in that will automatically label all doors in the project to the room they are associated to, it also gives you options of cycling through doors one at a time and pick the to or from room and add an alphabetical suffix

Our HatchKit Add-In for Revit 2016 is now available from Autodesk's Revit Exchange:
https://apps.exchange.autodesk.com/RVT/en/Detail/Index?id=appstore.exchange.autodesk.com%3ahatchkitforrevit2016_windows64%3aen
HatchKit itself is not tied to any particular version of Revit, instead we issue a free connector as an add-in for each new version of Revit as it is released.

Wrong place for this post abhi ....
You can not attach a file to a central but
- if nobody else is working in the project and if you preserved worksets, you could create a new central from the file you are in.
- If you removed the worksets, you could re-enable worksets and also make a new central but all workset assignments would have been lost.
- If both of the above will not work for you and you have work you need to preserve, while in the same Revit session, you can properly create a new local from your central and copy/paste between your bad file and your new local.
