How can I hide the fill pattern on only one of the topographies.
SITE SETTING, will hide / reveal them all but I need only one terrain (the existing one) to not have a pattern.

I think you waill have to add a pad there. If you still want that topogarphy in plan, phases might work.

- Both terrains are correctly Phased as "New" and "Existing".
- The bottom "floor" is a PAD applied to the NEW TERRAIN, (marked in blue on the illustration above).
- The terrain with the red arrow is the OLD TERRAIN and of course we need it to show, but we do not need its PATTERN to go through the building.
How do we hide its pattern?

select it, right click, override graphics in view by element, turn off cut pattern.

In REVIT 2011 you cannot override properties of a Topography element. ("...as far as I know...")
How did you manage that?

I just fired up 2011, works the same as 2012 regarding override by element. You just have to select the topo in your section--grab the upper surface, you can't select the hatch, right click, override graphics in view, by element... And I did misinform you a little, you need to disable the -surface- pattern, not the cut pattern in order to remove the earth fill.
I've never seen the error you mention.
Also, I don't know if you're doing some phasing work that neccessitates seeing that uncut topo in other views...? but WWs suggestion of a pad is good, if not.

THANK YOU Fantastic!
To sum it up for other users:
Topography CUT PATTERNS are not controled by CUT PATTERNS but by SURFACE PATTERNS.

If you go back to override by element, check "transparent" at the top, and that should do it for you.
