Is there an anologue to the CAD "from" command in Revit? For instance i was moving a drawer model back and forth yesterday, and needed to moke sure it was 2" from a wall. I ended up moving it up to the wall and the moving it again the 2" so that it was the required distance off of the wall. In CAD i'd begin the move command click my base point, type in from click the wall and then enter in 2" as my offset. What i'm wondering is if there's a similar process that can be done in Revit.

Directly out of the HELP:
- Click once to enter a start point for moving.
A preview image of the element displays.
- Move the cursor in the direction that you want the element to move.
The cursor snaps to snap points. Dimensions appear as guides.
- Click again to complete the move, or, for more precision, type a value for the distance to move the element, and press Enter.
Easier than it was in CAD

Maybe i'm still missing something, but going with what you describe above when i type in a value (2") the object moves 2" from my start point.
What i'm actually trying to do is pick the object, and then in the middle of the move command pick the wall and offset the object 2" from the wall, not 2" from my start point. If the wall is 6" away i would have effectively moved the object 4" from my start point.

Then use the temporary dimensions that show up.... If they are not to the right place, grab the dot at the end and move it, then change the dimension.
Again from the HELP:
After you place a component, Revit Architecture displays the temporary dimensions. When you place another component, the temporary dimensions for the previous component no longer display. To view the temporary dimensions of a component, click Modify and select the component. Remember, the temporary dimensions are to the nearest component, so the dimensions you see may be different from the original temporary dimensions. If there are dimensions you want displayed at all times, create permanent dimensions.
You can modify temporary dimensions to reference the components you want by moving the witness lines. You can also specify the display and placement of temporary dimensions.

I was also looking for this cross over command from AutoCAD. I love AutoCAD's Move From option when right clicked during the move command. I use the listening dimensions all the time in Revit but they do not pick up on groups, or more specifically an object in the group I need it to be based from.
Still no command in Revit for this?
Thanks,
