Hi,I am very new to revit and trying to teach myself. I am on day 2.Not sure if this is a basic question but I am having a problem with the finish on my pitched roof. I can't seem to create a tile over hang under the facias section which an online tutorial suggests you can. I am also finding that although the finish is tile, when I go to a high render it shows up as a block of colour as oppose to a tiles look. I have tried for ages to figure it out but I just can't seem to spot it. Please help.Cleo77

"having a problem with the finish on my pitched roof."
go into the "materials" dialog and select something like "default roof"- (or duplicate it)- and then click the "render appearance" tab and then "replace" that material.. then close all that out and go into 3D view and click on the "paint" tool and use that same roof material you chose and paint that part of the roof you want it to be.. then render and see what you get.. and i promise once you get going you'll be hooked..

Thank you! This has worked a treat and looks much more realistic.
You wouldnt happen to know why I don't have a tile over hang option do you?I watched a tutorial online that said if you go into your roof plan level, go to roof and select facias, in the drop down element menu you should have tile over hang. This doesn't seem to be an option for me.....Thank you again

Cleo- there is no tile overhang because the appearance of the tile is only an image.. anything you want the roof fasia to do you have to "model".. you could also model the tile itself and make it overhang.. here is an example in this image i have attached here of how i created a tile overhang.. i simply cut a void on the end of the roof that left a slice of the roof hanging over.. but i know you don't know how to do that yet- i'm just saying how it works to get you started understanding the nature of revit..
