Is it possible to create a maximum or minimum formula for a family?  I have a paper towl dispensor and i was wondering if it is possible to put a maximum and minimum mounting height on it so it cant be mounted between the two.  I dont think it is possible, but please let m eknow if there is a way.

It depends on how you are adjusting the height. If you are moving it up and down using the level offset in the project, no. If you create a mounting height parameter in your family, yes.

You'll need two different length parameters (I'm going to call them MH1 & MH2). MH1 is what you'll attach to the ref planes, and will flex the geometry. MH2 will be where the user will enter the mounting height. The formula for MH1 would be something like 'if(MH2 < 3'-0", 3'-0", if(MH2 > 5'-0", 5'-0", MH2))'. The user will be able to enter any value for MH2, but MH1 will only move between 3' and 5'.

If you want to get clever you can use two ref planes for the mounting height parameters. MH1 will still be attached to the ref plane that flexes the model, this ref plane will be set to 'not a reference', that way there will be no grips attached to it. The second ref plane will be set to 'weak reference' (or any other reference type you want) and tie the MH2 parameter to it. This ref plane will do nothing except give you some grips to adjust the MH2 parameter, which will then adjust MH1.
