Hey gang!
Revit includes a few light fixtures. Some of them need to be hosted by a ceiling and some don't. How can this property be assigned or turned off if I am creating a new custom fixture?
Thanks for the help.

Use the appropriate template. As a general rule, always create families non-hosted... And if you need them hosted later, nest the family into a hosted template and link any parameters.

Assuming my family is already hosted, can I get rid of the hosting by changing a parameter or something? Should I start from scratch to rebuild it in the correct template?
Thanks.

You'll need to copy all geometry and paste into a new non-hosted family template in order to change from hosted to non-hosted.
Its much easier to go from non-hosted to hosted, which is why i suggest always doing elements non-hosted.
