I am trying to save a copy of a current central file we have on the server.
I have given it a different name to that of the previous one, and it is located in another folder on the server also.
I have opened up the current central file and:File > Save As
Then I have renamed the file as per its new name, I have navigated through the server to the new location of the file, and changed the options to "Make This a central file after save".
I have then clicked save.
To double check that the file was working, I created my user copy on my hard drive; then I drew a circle using the detail lines command and saved to central to make sure that the file is updating to the server.
I recieved an error message (attached).I then went into revit help and checked that I had followed all the correct procedures when creating the duplicate of the file. I also made sure that the file path for the central file to update was correct in the settings.
If anyone has any information to help on this matter, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

When you are creating a new central, under options, you also have to check "Make this file a Central file after save".

Open Revit, click the big R, on the Open command, navigate to find the file, make sure you click the "detach from central" box before you click Open, then save it as a different name. You won't be able to save it a a central file until you save it as a different name. Open the renamed file, then save it as a central file.
This should work as I had to do it myself in our office.

Actually, if you open any file detached, when you save it, Revit will always make it a central file. Since raja simply opened the central file, he has to use the make this file a central file option. Both ways work. In both processes, Revit does not care what the name is so be careful.

Thanks guys, we got it working.
Much appreciated
Ps. I thought I'd just point out that raja is my nickname, haha. I'm actually a girl.
But thanks for your help regardless
