hi, i have set up my wall with insulation, block work etc and in plan i get to see the cut patterns but in section its just a fill pattern, when i go to change that in the properties drop down menu it only gives me an option for 1 pattern and not the number of different patterns like i have in plan. can anyone help me on this please
thanks,

First off, change your resolution in section view from coarse to fine (should be the empty box, change it to be the extremely checkered box). Second, the closest aspect I'm aware of to what you are desiring is in the visibility/graphics overrides, in the override host layers area, select the cut line styles check box, then click on edit. This allows you to edit the weight and patterns of the lines between layers, but NOT the fill pattern of that layer. The fill pattern for a layer comes from the material as defined in the construction. When you create a layer, you assign to it a material. This material then has a cut view and a projection view properties, where you can control how it is displayed.
