Hey everyone, I am a student in highschool (10) rendering a room...

I have been assigned a room to "redesign"(see picture below), and have done well so far. Please keep in mind I just started using this program 4 days ago. Anyway, I am a little confused on how I can apply materials/color/texture to elements in my room. I really enjoy Revit 2010, I am just a little frustrated because I cannot change element materials.

Thanks so much for the help,

               Ben Streber

Also:

Is there a way to "convert" Inventor drawings in .rfa format?

Thanks Again!

Since you are a beginner - the best advice is start using your HELP.  Type in materials and read all the topics listed in the HELP.

Also in the HELP, type in INVENTOR and it will answer your questions.....

Lear to use the tools given.

"I am a little confused on how I can apply materials/color/texture to elements in my room" - you are talking about what? I see your image and it's very good so far...

About "Inventor" I don't know if there is any "plugin" but I believe you can export what you want in "DWG" or "SAT" file then you can import to Revit.

Thanks for the replies so far, they have been very helpfull!

To those who want me to look in the HELP file, I did. I found it hard to navigate, so I decided to ask the community.

To clarify: I want to learn how to change....say....the color of the wood on each chair, or add texture and leather color to

the couches. Essentially, I want to learn how to add color and warmth to this cold, white room.

Thanks Again,

-Ben Streber

I believe those chairs are in the same "Type" so you will need to "duplicate" those chairs with other name then you can change the material like you want, that's why WW told you to "Type in materials and read all the topics listed in the HELP."

IF the "material" parameter is in a "Instance" parameter (what I doubt) you can change that without duplicate the chair BUT you need to duplicate the "Name" of that material (give it another name) and then select a new one. Make sense?

About the "couches" I believe they are "Imported objects" from others softwares, am I correct? What you must to do (and there are lots, and lots of similar threads about this issue here in Forums - search for "Sketchup") you will need to open (edit) that family, go to "Materials" box and you will see (if they didn't changed the name already) several names like "Render ###.###.###", this is the colors in that object when they created that in another software, you'll need to change those "render ###....."  to the material/texture you want.

The HELP menu is a VERY GOOD BOOK, believe me and like you said " I just started using this program 4 days ago" it's a good advice to read the HELP menu....
