Hello there,
I am new to Revit, love it but just want to know how to make a cavity wall that is 2 x 110 walls with a 50mm cavity.

You can create that in several ways, you can use an "In-Place" family in your project in category "Walls" then create the "Void" where you want and use the "Cut Geometry" tool to cut the wall, or, you can create a "Face Based or Wall based" family to do that...

I don't have 2008, and that may be a problem. I have done similar, with my masonry walls, just set the parts up on wall editor. You have just one wall to draw and not the additional fooling around. Also doors and windows cut the wall just fine.
