I have been having issues with my foundation plan views. I try to set them up so the cut planes are correct, the top of the plane is below the slab, but for some reason it never works out very well for me. Can anyone help? Point me to a better tutorial than the Revit help menu? or explain it in a way I can understand (that may be asking a lot)
Thanks,
AAron

Aaron ... you can edit your own posts when you forget something. Click on the down chevron on the right of your posts.
I don't know what you are asking. Can you explain what problem you are having?

I have attached a screen shot of my issue. My settings appear to be set right but the footings are not visible. I just need some schooling on levels, view depths and so on.
I did not know how to edit WW, Thanks for sharing.

AAron,
This could have been done from the first floor level - your choice. Do you have foundation walls below the first floor. If so, I would work from that level down and just turn off the slab.
Do you want to cut your foundations or see them just as outlines? I typically do not cut them so my cut plane is above them (and cutting any foundation walls) so it might be an inch below the floor. I set my view depth and bottom to infinity or just something beyond my deepest element.

Thanks, I usually end up doing something like that but I was wondering if there was a better option. I still do not know why I can't see them in my view but oh well.

Aaron,
Just for your reference on view depth, look at attachment.
Hope it helps.

Can you see any footings? If not, visibility graphics overrides and ensure that all the structural stuff is turned on, this is also where you'd set up the projection lines to show as dashed if that is how you typically show "below".
Another option to check, is what your discipline is set to, as these contain some graphics which CANNOT be overriden, and might be causing your footings to not show, make sure you are either in coordination or structural (or as another option, Architectural).

@ thetabest, that was a great comment, thank you. 12 years later it helped me see foundations in my plan. I switched the view discipline to "Structural".
