Hello all! I'm brand spanking new to the forums. Can't believe I've been missing out!

I'd like to know if there are any intricate Revit sample models? I'd like them to have more than just walls and floors, I want dynamic HVAC systems, plumbing system, electrical system, state-of-art sort of buildings (bigger is better). A complete building would be perfect.

Anything would be nice. Thanks in advance!

Revit comes with one of those out of the box, i believe its called the advanced sample model

Alabaster, I can give you a model I made that's so intricate and glitchy that it crashes any computer.  It's like a revit-bomb.  Spin... zoom in... BOOM.  Crash.

Check out the chat room during school hours. 

People are a little protective of their stuff sometimes.  Especially if they've laboriously built it themselves.  What sort of complexity are you looking for, and for what purpose?  I'm imagining you want to see a good finished product, and sort of reverse-engineer the process of putting it together, seeing the best practices of a firm using revit as a main design tool... 

But you've got to understand that there are a fair number of people who would try use revitcity to take some huge shortcuts in, say, a final project for the semester, and have no qualms taking what isn't theirs and putting it forward as their own work.  Big problem in education today, plagarism, across all disciplines. 

So, sorry for the welcome to revitcity, we can be extremely helpful, but be upfront and specific with what you want and why you want it!   Generally though, there isn't much exchange of finished projects, just families.  A project can exceed 100Mb pretty easilly and I doubt the moderators want to be doing that sort of hosting

It's not just about the effort put into it, you're asking people to give away stuff that doesn't belong to them. I'm pretty sure the other people on this site are a lot like me, the stuff they are working on in their personal time you can have (and is probably already in the downloads section), but the big stuff you want is all project work that they don't have rights to even if they were inclined to give it to you. I can give you a few families if you want them, but the big projects belong to my company, the architect, the project owner etc., pretty much everyone but me. A complete project just isn't going to be something that someone has knocked together at home (and if it is they aren't going to just give it away for free, even if you do ask nicely), they got paid to do it for the person who owns it.

If you're wanting to learn how it all goes together, put one together for yourself. Just looking at it isn't going to get you anywhere, you have to do the work on your own.

Sorry, your sarcasm was abrupt and dry. So, I assumed you were being childish. It's hard to judge tone on a forum.

Anyway, I am not asking for personal projects. I was asking for samples that are readily available to the public, such as tutorial-based samples.

Ok, thanks for all those who replied. When I was going through the downloads section, I thought there has got to be some significantly large projects that were available. I was looking for some public model that shows a complete building.

Specifically, I'd like to learn how HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems work in a building. You're right, it did not cross my mind that students would use this as well because Revit is so darn expensive.

I actually work for a company that develops interoperability between building models. However, I am a programmer that does not know the first thing about 3d modeling. I'd like to use this to build my house after some intermediate training.

Anyway, I guess I'll have to learn how to put one together myself. Also, I will share it on here once it's done.

zyphirr- you have to learn to live with the children here at revit city- lol..

what you are asking is exactly what i was asking in my early revit years..

and i obtained many of those projects with no problems.. keep in mind that

 we can only post 2Mb here on the forum.. but you hang in here at revit city-

Thanks, I really appreciate that. Actually, I really appreciate all the replies. Going through the forums has already taught me a lot about Revit, and the freebies in the download section is fantastic.

Partners sounds good, although it will be one sided at the moment as I am a Revit newbie. Cheers!

If someone wants to give you large projects then more power to them. When it comes to me however, my job is to train Revit users and create Revit projects. Tips, tricks, advice, small samples you are welcome to. It's in my best interest to put other users on the right path, and I have received much help myself. But to go any farther than that is to ask me to do my job for free. Ain't gonna happen.

I'm glad you can help others, but I'm not sure what you mean by going "farther than that." If you are referring to sharing all your work with others, then I whole-heartedly disagree. As a programmer, I've always embraced the open-source philosophy, and I don't just apply that to my source code but everything I do. I feel like this can help others so much more and in return, I can only hope for the same help. I assume you embrace more of a proprietary philosophy?
