I am doing an addition to a home. The existing roof is a 8/12 hip. I am adding a shed/hip roof to the corner of the house at the addition. The short side of the addition is 8/12, which matched the existing roof. The long side is 2/12. When I create the roof the fascia board is shorter then the existing roof fascia. I am able to align the bottom of the fascia boards, but can't get the height to match. Any ideas?

This is a problem with the geometry of the roof. If the narrow side is 8:12, and the long side is 2:12 the roof overhangs must be a different length in order to match up.

Hey there.  Roofs are frustrating stuff.

The problem you're having is that you have your roofs set to "plumb cut" which slices through them vertically.  This is going to be a different depth for any slope of roof, as I exaggerate in the attached pic.

What you can do, however, is set the rafter cut to "two cut plumb" with a Fascia depth equal to or less than the width of your roof structure, and it'll match all the way around.  Hope that helps.
