Does Revit Structure have a family for bar grating? I cannot find it. I need grating for platforms.
Thanks

I had to do a large walkway of grating once, and I modeled it. It absolutely killed my computer. I ended up using a semi-transparent floor material with an appropriately sized model hatch, and it looked pretty snazzy. It wouldn't render as grating, however, if that's primarily what you're looking for.

@ mbsteve,
did you ever end up putting that grating on the site? I could use that for Revit 2011.

This is the built in material called "Wood Stockade" applied to both sides of this 1-1/2 inch wall. I did not set any transparancy to the material - no need to and you can see through it in renders. NOT IN NORMAL VIEWS

BTW - If you do a material like this, you can still set it transparent with a pattern for non-rendered views.

Those are both great! I'm actually after the FRP type, that you had posted a picture of first. Did you happen to upload the revit file earlier? I did a search & couldn't find it.

Bar Gratings are made from metal bars that cross each other or metal bars with filler strips welded to the metal bars. Metal grating can be assembled with cross-pieces fitted into joints of the other members or welded together at the intersections. The outer edge of the grate is enclosed by a metal frame. Bearing bars are the stronger bars used in the grating. They cover the entire span or length of the grate. Filler strip or cross-bars range from equal size to much smaller than the bearing bars.

jeffgroof,
I believe most of us know what bar grating is but maybe this will help some. For your information, not all gratings are metal and not all gratings have the same configuration as you suggest. An example of that would be the fiberglass gratings on the site you posted.
