Hello,
our building's are being drawn as they are being build. So an inner wall of concrete, a second wall of insulation, and a third, outer wall with bricks. Works great, and lots of details can be made. Looks like this: (picture 1: fine.png)
See my next post for further explaining of the problem.

There is a limit on file size for attachments ... use something like Screenhunter free for making small images.

This is what te architects have in mind: I've created this with filled region, but would be too time-consuming.

This is what I can achieve with 3 walls in coarse - grey.
Can't get rid off the little black line?

Did you try adding an air layer to the inside of your brick wall?

Yes, this results in this image: (now I have 2 little black lines)Extra information, maybe relevant; the 3 walls will always be joined, so that a window family will cut through all 3 walls.

Yes,
completely overlooked this option, but it works! Can I make standard settings to join walls always like this? Or is it something it has to be done every time, for every corner?
Thanks!

every wall every time, how they "join" is determined by their construction, if you edit the construction, you will see a number inside brackets "[1]" after a layer type. The lower the number, the higher the priority, and it functions like this, a lower number will connect to the same number in any wall, cutting through any higher levels to get there.
If I were you, and creating the wall setup that you are mentioning, I'd play with making it a single wall type, see if you could get it to work in the wall construction. You won't be able to use the structural layer for each walls core, and it is most definitely a hack, but you might be able to get a faster automated approach from this.

JeroentjeM,
What thetabest gave you is the rules for how layers will cleanup. To answer your question though, walls are set toButt clean by default and normally, this results in a clean joint. Sometimes it doesn't and a cycle through the options may work as it did for you.
You can see the differences in your HELP: Changing the Configuration of a Wall Join

Hey,
thanks for your fast replis so far. Thought I had the answer; join the 2 walls that are perpendicular to eachother (join;and then 2 clicks on the little black line). In coarse view this looked exactly as what I'm searching for, but changing to fine mode; the concrete wall was joined with the insulation, so no good.
The option with the wall joins takes just too much time for each project. We have buildings with up to 20 corners, over 3 stories high, divided in 3 walls (2 joins per wall); this would mean I'd have to clean up 120 joins. Worst case example, but it could happen.
Maybe there's hope for me in the 2012 edition?

The fact that your insulation joined with the concrete is because of the layer cleanup rules that thetabest was posting about. Please read this in your HELP:> Applying a Function to a Layer of a Compound Structure

Hey Guys,
I've set all three walls to [2]substrate. Now I can join them all, and the black lines disappear. I hope it won't bring other problems setting them all to [2] ? For now, problem solved. Thanks for all the help!
