Hi,
I'm looking at the best option to create timber rainscreen cladding which has a coloured panel inserted every so oftern.
Attached is a picture.
Originally I looked at using a hatch for the cladding and then 'colouring in' a panel in elevation, but would like to achieve this if possible in the model.

Opps - forgot the file.
I guess this could be created by using a curtain wall, but this doesn't seem the right thing.
I would appriciate any advice.

Create a wall type that matches the host wall but with the alternative coloured finish (panel), draw in position over the host wall (ignore error msg) & adjust the width/height/position to suit your requirements then use 'cut geometry' to sort out the error message & host the panel

Thats a good idea - I'll try that.
I assume there is no problem with a model having load of small bits of wall cut into each other, some of which will be up against windows and door openings?
(I come from an ACA background and know what a problem this would cause with cleanups etc)

No, but if you have schedules for wall types it can be a pain - I try to avoid things like wall type numbers as it ends up ridiculous, or I just number the main ones

Depends on how detail you want it to be, I think it can be done in Curtain wall system
or I would create a (face-based) family for the timber rainscreen cladding and hosted it by the wall
