Hi I'm working on a large project in four floor plans. I'm trying to create a scheme showing the gross areas on the floors. But I can't figure out how to create custom area_types ? I need to have the plans divided in accommodation, offices and other areas. But how does one do that ? I can't even change the names of the default areas :-( Any input ? Thanks :-)

Revit has two types of area's, area plans and rooms but they both schedule basically the same.  The difference is where their limits are.  You can read about both of these in your HELP.

You can add additional parameters to areas and rooms through your schedules.  Just add a new field like "USE or DEPARTMENT and use that field to sort your schedule.

Hi wwhub I know that there are different kinds of area plans. But how Can I create a plan that shows the gross area and type for every lease ? I'm a bit lost here.

Please re-read my previous answer and read your HELP including

  • Area Plans
  • Area Schemes
  • Creating an Area
  • Area Properties
  • Selecting Fields for a Schedule  (add a custom field)
  • Sorting Fields in a Schedule
  • Adding Column Totals to a Schedule
