Hi All

i'm using Revit Architecture 2011

i have to model this,,,any idea which way to go,,,,,

i tryed with curtain wall and curtain grid, and changed some of the panels to solid etc.etc. its not working, due to the arched shaped entrance opening on one  of the faces of the ''C''.........

its ''C'' shaped in plan view (with no curve or radious) and the material is ''aluminium'' cladding 12meters high supported vertically by RHS at the back.

and if you see in elevation, it has long rectangular cuts (horizontal) of various heights (they are not continuous also, lets say a rectangle of 3m long with 20cm height and the one that is next to it would be 3m long with 35cm height etc.etc...these cuts are air gaps) & it has a door like opening on two sides of ''C'' (no curve or radious) shape and an arch shaped opening on the third side, i hope i ve made it clear.

its an entrance feature of an industrial building.

Pls. help

The doors, windows and arc need to be made with families loaded into the proyect, set in correct category.

You need to add a sheet of metal to look good on rendering?

As vector writes, what you need to be done with this?

that's a good point about wall based families because you

don't usually cut those kinds of openings in a system wall

for what at lease appears to be for windows and doors..

but with only a 1/2 inch or 10 millimeters between those

two horizontal openings- and if there is going to be lots

of radical geometry- it might be better to consider an

in-place wall.. that's why i'm wondering what this is

supposed to be..

You have to ways.

One is painfully slow, since you have to create custom curtain walls for each panel that you are showing (creating arc voids for the main entrance, as example)

The second way is cheating a little. You can duplicate a Glazed panel (you can actually edit the profile of that wall), assign a new material, put on the surface material a custom horizontal hatch (model type), and do it as many times as you need. This is way faster, and will not harm the performance of the model.

Check the model if you are not clear.

For rendering this, just take the hatch, paint it in photoshop or autocad to get "cutouts", and repeat same process again, only this time will be textures.
