Hello all, this is my first question about errors and failure of Revit, so bare with me as i hope to give you all the info you guys need.

Im working in a project which contains several linked revit files of houses, placed next to eachother, some of them mirrored, some of them aren't. In total there are 10 houses like this, with in the 'backyard' a carport and a small building, which are also linked files.

When i try to render the whole project it gives me the following error:

"Revit was unable to render the view due to an unknown error during render calculations. The rendering operation will be canceled."

Only option to click is 'Close' so thats what i choose. Strange thing is, the rendering doesnt get cancelled, but continues, only it isnt showing my complete model. It ignores the toposurface and some of my linked files.

So to rule out any errors in the models, i start to turn linked files on and off.. it turns out that only 1 linked model is making this error happen, if i turn off that model, it renders fine.

So to make up the score at this point: i can render the whole image just like i want it, but just without the one faulty model.Next thing i tried to figure out is why this model gives me that error, so i open it outside of the big project and try to render it in there... You could guess what happened: it renders just fine.. no error at all..

Back in the big, main project i tried it the other way around.. every link off, except the one giving errors. Again, it renders without any problems. So i try turning on every link, one by one. It all goes fine until i get one other, different link that is giving me the error again.

So appearantly it goes wrong somewhere in the big project and i dont know how, why or what to do with it.. i got two faulty links that both work fine on its own or can work if the other one is turned off.

I tried region-renderings, switchting from screen to printer-renders, various lighting schemes but al no effect.. this error keeps popping up and wont complete the full render.

Im using Revit 2011 on a computer which i dont know the specs of (work-computer, property's arent available for me).I do know the graphicscard because that isnt blocked for me: Nvidia Quadro FX 1500 256mb

i noticed not many people have recieved this error so i hope there is someone that can help me out here.. thnx alot!

I doubt you will find the problem without sending to autodesk.  You may have to render everything but this file, then render just this file in the same window and combine them in photoshop.

Has anyone found a solution to the render problem? I keep getting a dialogue box that says "Revit was unable to render the view due to an unknown error during render calculations. The rendering operation will be canceled." The only option is to click "close" and when i do so, it continues to render but only the sky and grass. My buildings are not present. Any suggestions?

I believe this is a RAM (memory) problem, specs. of your machine please??

Try to clean your "TEMP" folder before render, use "CCleaner" or similar software to do that.

Open that file but use the "Audit" option, could be a "corruption file" issue then purge that file.... but I belive it's a RAM problem....

Does anyone have an update to this problem with Revit?

I have 12 GB of RAM.

I do have a topography surface.. will remove and try rendering, as a test.
