Thanks for the quick response Hub, can always count on You!
I took a lot from Vico and put it into my own document attempting to explain what LOD is and that is how I came, to my conclusion, that there seems to be a lot of open ended items. (Again, forming my own conlcusions here)
For example, one question I am getting a lot is does the LOD actually affect the amount of modeling on loadable content?
If it does, then what whould/not model per level? I have been told by a few people that it should and if so, are we to the point of taking SAT files and just importing them into a family for an extreme level of development?
NOTE: I can see how the LOD affect system families like wall and floor systems.
Another example would be does LOD require the modeling and coordination of all openings for MEP?
Or modeling of duct/pipe hangers...if so, again, what level of development and information?
To me, this is more along the lines of VDC for coordination purposes in the filed...
Last example from a recent conversation...at the 400 level, should one actually adjust the model to meet fabrication (at what cost?) or would it be acceptable to add a hyperlink in the property sets that go to the specs and shop drawings?
In my opinion, this should almost be broken into two categories, LODM (model) and LODI (information), so we can all understand with a clear picture of the level of modeling AND information required.
I know a lot of the LOD items are open ended and left upto the contractor, owner and other parties to decide upon the aggreed output and delivery... but a clearer picture would be very helpful.
Thanks again Hub, as always, very much appreciated!
