Hi there, i've seen this same question posted a fair bit however none of the answers have seemed to help me. admittadly i am new to Revit so please bare with me. What im basically trying to do is a seemingly simple task relating to room occupancy scheduling. What I’d like to do is assign a numeric value (in this case the occupancy load per square metre) to a text field, furthermore allowing me to then use the numeric value represented by the text field in a simple occupancy load calculation. So for example; say we let the category’ Board Room’ (text) represent a numeric value of ‘2’, any rooms that are then categorised to be a ‘Board Room’ will then have their occupancy load calculated according to the appropriate variable (in this case 2). Cheers, Jonathan.C

Text is text ... it is not a number so you can not use it mathmatically. Revit also has no text formulas at this time.

So there is no way to do something basic like let x = 2?

That sounds promising, by using a parameter would that enable me to achieve the following?
(If so im still not quite sure how to set one up)
Room (Parameter) (Calculation using Parameter)
Office office .......
parameter office = 2
Thanks in advanced WWHUB

Your answer is in your HELP if you ever choose to use it. Look up parameter.
