I've searched through the boards but couldn't find anything to match my problem. I've modeled some curtain wall and lines behind the gaskets show through (see attached). The lines are (1) part of the gasket and (2) the mullion and pressure plate beyond. I've tried making the gasket thicker and it does hide the lines, but, it's not an accurate representation of the gasket. Is there another solution?

We do not model any of this because it severly overloads the model. In any model perpective view, you will be hard pressed to notice anything missing. Our model mullions are simple rectangles and the model glass is one piece full thickness. Then in detail sections, we use detail components that are like what you have modeled. We also never embed a detail component in the system. We find it far easier to add these where we need them.

Thanks for the info WWHub, unfortunately the customer wants all the parts and pieces modeled. Any thoughts?

If you are saying that these lines show in 3D views and are the junction of the glass/gasket .... Well .... isn't that what you have in the real worls that you have chosen to model? The glass is transparent and you can see these lines?

No, the lines (arrowed) are from the mullion and pressure plate beyond, behind the rubber gasket.

Do you have the view displaying as a hidden line model or wireframe?

Do these lines show in a section like you have shown or a different view? If so, are these lines in the family or extrusions?

I ask again? Do you have linework in your family? Did you use a nested DWG to create your mullions?

I'm sorry WWHub, I neglected to answer that. The lines that are showing through are from separate families. The mullion, pressure plate, and gaskets are all separate families

I believe your problem is caused by how you created your CW families but without seeing those, I can't help you furthur.

I created the curtain wall parts as a generic model by pulling in ACAD drawings and picking the lines to create extrusions with parametric values that allow me to control lengths, etc. in the project. One family for each different kind of part (e.g. one gasket family used at multiple locations). I then created a framework of reference planes in the project and "built" the curtain wall from the various families.

For anybody wondering, I ended up just modeling the gaskets "fatter" than they should be and that covered the lines behind.

Is those components were created using "generic model" other than a profile family with a nested detail component. Then you should be able to control the detail level (coarse, medium, fine) from the visibility inside the family. select each geometry inside the family editor and under modify --> visiblity setting you can choose which level of detail to display. BTW, I am not too sure why you want to create this "curtain wall" by generic family Not curtain wall system family, but hope the above suggestion will help what you want.
