Hi, I have a couple of questions I hope someone can answer. 1. can someone tell me please where the control for Wall System Family detail levels are controled. The various components will display in Medium or Fine or I can override the detail level per view in the VG dialogue but where is the detail level controled. 2. I am viewing a staircase in Hidden Line Visual style and it displays shaded with a gray material in a non cut view. Where is the gray shaded material controlled? In a normal cut view it displays as expected without any material or shading. Thanks, Peter

Your question kind of jumps around. Wall systems and stairs are not the same. What do you mean by non-cut view? The grey shade for the stairs should be set in the stair properties and would be shaded in a shaded view.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. The stairs and wall questions are independent of each other, two seperate unconnected questions. I have attached 2No. png files, one with a Floor Plan View set to Level 1. The plan is cut at the default 1200mm and the section of the stairs above the 1200mm cut plane is white or transparent whilst the section below 1200mm cut plane is shaded grey. The second image shows the full stairs viewed from Level 3, the stairs terminates at level 2 and therefore dispalys uncut and fully shaded grey. I'm wondering where the grey shading is set. There isn't any materials assigned as seen in the stair properties on the image. Where the walls are concerned, I just wondered where the setting for specifying the visual style detail level for the layers display. When medium or fine is selected the various components display in the view and when the Course detail level is selected the layers don't display in the view. When creating Component Families there is an option in the Visibility Settings for controling the detail level of the components. Is there a setting for controling the System Family detail levels? Thanks, Peter

In the first view, your stairs above the cut are not shown grey....in fact they are not shown. What is shown is the hidden lines of the stairs above the cut. The grey is the first floor! If you don't want the stairs and railing beyond the cut to show as hidden lines then turn that off in VG. In both views, the stairs are blue because you have picked them so I don't see any grey. The material of your stair is controlled under materials where is says it is currently set to default. Default is always grey. System family settings are controlled by the system. You control of that is throw VG and project manage - option style settings.
