I edited the profile of my wall and created an eliptical acrhed porch entrance. I created a sweep profile but cannot get the sweep to run along the arched opening. Its like a moulding runing along the edge as an architectural feature to match those around the windows and doors. I have seen arched openings with cornice in gallery photos. Iwould really appreciate it if someone would make this easy for me to understand. Thanks.

I take that you mean to create a in-place family (molding) if you edit profile the wall. if this is the case, you should be able to pick 3D edges (use sweep) when you are in the in-place family mode. then draw the molding profile (or use a profile family) and it should be it. other alternative is to create a geneic family (loaded family) and insert it. personally, i would do the latter since it is easier to control the behavior Philip

I tried the first method and got the desired effect. Don't understand how to achieve the same result using the alternative method, but will try. I you can give a lil more details. Thanks alot. You've eased my stress.

Can you do the same thing for a ceiling? (Crown Molding around top of walls, coffered ceilings, etc?)

sas27, See attached this is something I would have done if you have many arch opening with molding to model. By doing this, you eilimate the process of editting the wall profile, but to use this family to do both. you can customize the molding style by creating your own profile family and load into the opening family. all other elements as your desire. sroreilly, Ceiling is a different story, I would use wall sweep to create the crown molding on the top of the wall, they can be either stand alone sweep or intergrated inside the wall type. Coffered ceiling molding can be achieved by creating a face-base/ceiling family... Philip

Thank you, Phililp... Now I'm trying to place molding underneath a curved ceiling... I've created it as an extrusion. Any hints? Susan

Did you mean like a vault ceiling? If so, I would suggest to make it out-of in-place family. If this doesn't help, try to upload an image of what u wanted to do
