Haven't found any previous discussions on here, so here goes. Is there a straightforward way to model wood purlins bearing on a curved beam (i.e. glulam) in Revit Structure 2011? I have tried using radial arrays, but Revit wants to keep the purlins bearing plumb to ground instead of rotated to be plumb to the curve and at the correct elevations. I can indivually manipulate each purlin to rotate it and adjust elevation so it looks like it is positioned correctly, but it's not attached as far as the program is concerned. Kinda seems to defeat the purpose of modeling in a parametric program if the program doesn't know what's connected to what. This is for a series of walkway/driveway canopies of varying sizes and radii that I'm trying to model, so I can't just do it once and copy. I'm hoping that I'm missing something in my relative newness to Revit. Thanks everyone!

Jason

Sometimes the out-of-box modeling functions don't get you to where you want to go with Revit.  When this happens, I create families.

Are you familiar with family creation?

If you need the analytical lines, you can add them as needed.

I just started looking at family creation yesterday for adding some specific parameters to trusses. Haven't tried it out yet. I'll look into that for this issue too.
