Hello- I'm creating a project template for my office. Is there a way to remove line styles? Specifically Revit out of the box lines..for example Medium Lines, Thin lines? I went to Additonal Settings under the Manage tab then selected line styles. When I select one of the mentioned above lines the delete button is grayed out. I've created all the line styles our office will need and I don't want there to be other options for people to use. Thanks, Rachel

You can not remove the system defined linestyles.

It's questions like this that drive me nuts!
Why don't you try and answer for yourself... gee it takes 30 seconds.

I'm not stupid, I did try the simple 'rename' function and obviously its not available. My question was more of, has anyone figured out how to dig into it deeper into the programming to change it. There has to be a way to change even program settings.

There sure is... it's called programming - get a job with AutoDESK and change the program.
I answered your question the way it was written. You asked how you can rename a system line not how you can change the programming and now I have answered that as well.

Whoa, gear down there, Big Shifter ;-) I think that was a fair enough question. Many programs over the years have had less-than-obvious ways of working around a programmer's intent and "forcing" something without requiring working as a programmer for the company. Editing INI files or other data/resource/settings files comes to mind as methods that were more involved than the usual clicking options in the program, but less involved than rewriting the software. At least that was the direction I got out of the question. Obviously, it only takes a few seconds to see the simple answer to the question, but most of us newer users are coming here after getting nowhere with the obvious path, hoping that more experienced users have found that hidden path that has been eluding us. For all you know, that user might have spent most of that day trying to work around that. I know I have in the past with similar issues, especially when trying to recreate the look of an existing company format.

I think you are way off base. If you come here for help, you should be able to clearly ask your question. If you tried something and that didn't work, you should say so. If this person had clearly asked his question, it could have been answered in one response.
Obviously newbies sometimes don't know enough to be able to ask clearly and we try to raise their level of knowledge. But sometimes they are just too lazy to try out a simple task to see what happens .... and that happens more than anyone would think it should.

pretty much anything system defined by Revit dosen't allow user modification of that system other that duplicating to create a user based system.

For people who come across this limitation by searching google: as far as I know it's still not possible but someone made a revit idea for it. Please add your vote to the idea. Ideas >50 votes generally get reviewed by the team and I'm betting this one should be relatively easy to implement.
