Hello, Although this is an old thread I found it very useful. My standing seam roof looks great but for some reason, I cannot change the material to a red colored metal roof. In the properties tab, the structure of the panel is "solid" but cannot find how to change that to "default roof" or any other material. Please help as I'm so close!

Did you try edit->edit structure?

I'm unfamiliar with Edit>Edit Structure but basically, that's what I'm trying to do but don't know how to get there. When I click on the roof and EDIT PROPERTIES, all I can do is change the panel to "solid" but want to be able to tell it what "solid" is for the material spec. This seems really simple but I'm sure I'm just missing one little step.

I should clarify. Select the roof. Select the properties button. Select the Edit/New button. Select the Edit button (in the top properties window for Construction: Structure) Then you can edit the layers of the roof. Editing the exterior most layer will allow you to change the material/color.

Thanks Enginator. I know what you mean but the problem is that this roof is created with sloped glazing...see Mr. Spot's post. So...I don't have the option of the 'Structure' like a normal wall, roof, etc. Can anyone who uses the sloped glazing work around help? Thanks!

If you are trying ot change the material of the solid panels in the sloped glazing system, you need to do so in the panel properties not the roof properties. Move your pointer over the edge of one of the panels and tap the TAB key until just a single panel is selected (in the lower left corner or the window it should say something to the effect of Default:Curtain Wall Panels: System Panel: Solid Panel). Then go to the properties for that panel and change the material in there.

Thanks archdan!! That was it! Simply select the panel in 3D view and edit the properties there. I knew it was something simple like that. Too bad I missed my deadline and the client didn't see his proper roof. Oh well...next project! Thanks so much!
