I'm looking to create an arched curtain wall with arched mullions. In lieu of an in-place family where I would create the necessary sweeps and such to create the desired effect, I was wondering if anyone has developed a strategy for creating this while maintaining the parameters of a standard curtain wall? The attached image shows what I have so far: I created a curtain wall and created the arched profile. The top hosts my existing mullion and creates the curve...how can I apply to the rest? Thanks!

Only the outside edges of the CW will support curves - that is the exterior and if you have a sketch hole, the interior edge. So you could play with that using multiple CW's but I would just sketch the exterior and do in-place for the remaider of the curved ones.

Thanks! I went ahead with creating the in place families...but they don't cut the CW glass and I'm not allowed to join / cut geometry. I guess that means that it is not behaving like a mullion. I used generic models (see image). Any suggestions?

No, you are right, thge in-place will probably not cut the glass. But who cares really? You will only see this fault in a section/detail view and you can correct that there.

True. The section does look okay. It would be nice if they could be more parametric though. Thanks!

I have since done another version where each section of the arched curtain wall is related to a mass. This allows the pieces to have mullions applied to them but I had to allow space for them to attach in the right place in relation to the next because it didn't work at the center line between each mass. In this way there is more editability within the curtain matrix and it appears like every other curtain wall (cutting the glass etc).

USING A CURTAIN WALL CUSTOM PANEL:
1. Edit the sketch and add the arch above the the curtain wall top constraint so that you can always control the height of the curtain wall to the base of the arch normally.
2. Add a curtain grid to split the arch from the rectangular base to create 2 curtain wall panels. (remove the new mullion).
3. Keep the top panel(arch).
4. Unpin and replace the bottom panel with the custom panel uploaded (Arch.rfa). You can control the radii of the arched mullions with instance parameters.
