Hello, Is it possible to reference views in a linked model? In my case, I have a ~50 storey tower over a complex podium, and they are separate models with one linked into the other. I'm early on in working drawings and wondering if I should remove the link and control the project with worksets alone, but I'm not sure how that will affect computer speed. The RA 2011 user guide mentions to keep separate buildings separate, but makes little mention about breaking up a single, large building; however it does point out the challenge of managing a single building that has linked models. Aside from linking considerations, I was wondering if, for example, I can show a building section of the project (both the podium and tower) in the podium model, with a wall section callout that references the linked (tower) model.

You can not directly reference the linked view. But with the models linked, you can cut a section in the same place as the linked section, then in VG set the linked model to per view and pick the section.

Thanks, that answers that question. A follow up question then would be if it makes sense to plot all the drawings of a linked-model project in one file, as opposed to printing portions of the project in each linked file. Any thoughts? It seems doable but also a management headache no matter how its handled. It seems to me that if a computer can handle it, managing a large project with just worksets is the way to go. There doesn't seem to be much opinion on this topic though. I figure if its laid out in an organized manner, I would be able to turn off the worksets I don't need to keep computer performance productive

We prefer seperate models for seperate disciplines but otherwise, we prefer everything in one model and use worksets. Using linked views is a real pain to manage and as of now, you can't tag most elements in linked modeld. How big is your model? We are working 200m on 16 bit machines and linked models on top of that. Not easy but doable.

yeah I think I'm just going to consolidate it into one model. The file will end up being probably 200-300 megabits, but we're getting new computers which should be able to handle it, and we're not too far into the modeling that it will be difficult to consolidate it.
