I am working in Revit MEP 2011. I am having problems with the default elevations of the families. I am not sure what is going on but when I bring in an object like the Electrical outlets one time it places them at the default elevation of 1'6" the next time I place one it comes in at 0'0". I have even purged them reloaded them and they continue to do this. I have checked and double checked what my defaults are and all seems to be fine. It is only this Family type and the Communcations families that do this data and all other work great. I have even tried to take one of those and change the family type to eletrical and it still does the same thing. I am at my wits end. Anyone have any suggestions.

you should be able to change the elevation as you are placing them in the properties palette. You dont need to worry too much about the default elevation. Unless of course you are placing 1 at a time and then escaping and going back into the command.

OK I am seeing that I am going to have to live with it that way. Now it brings me to the question of is there any way to link that elevation from the properties box there to a tag to label the mounting height for the family chosen?

You should be able too. Use the electrical equipment tag then edit it and you should be able to add either elevation or offset to the label in the family editor. Then you should just need to load it back into the project and it will update auto.
