I put two pics of the problem. Notice the different look of the balusters. It is the same material on two different renderings. Both render are at best quality. I don not belive that it is the light that makes the change. The difference is more than obvious to me. How can i fix it? Additionally, look at the glass reflection...it looks different too.

The Base Material Library changed between 2010 and 2011, some things got renamed etc. So most likely the materials you are having issues with just need reviewing and tweaking. Try a different base material. The Balusters look like they lost their material all together. HTH.

Well i dont think it is a confusion with Revit 2010 as my project is done entirely on revit 2011. I really need to have a deep black reflective surface but it seems that no matter what material i use I can never make it black enough again.

Sorry reading the subject line I thought you were making a comparison on an upgraded project. There are a number of factors that will effect how a material renders. Time of day, artificial lighting, surrounding materials, the sky used and the orientation, whether it is in shadow, your exposure and brightness settings, quality of render etc... First ensure that the materials do exactly match. Then if you can't fix it post processing look at each of the above items and try to match them as much as possible. I too have found dark black difficult to achieve in Revit in the past, for this reason I tend to do a bit of post processing in photoshop to adjust contrast levels, white point etc. You are limited in Revit with what you can alter... HTH.

Yes I think photoshop is the answer here. I just use completely black color and then i will add some shinniness. Adobe Illustrator makes it even easier for me. Thank you for the help!
