So I've read through the forum AND the Revit Help menu about working offline from home. I followed the procedure that the help menu listed and had my office re-send the file with all of the worksets made editable with my user name etc and it still does not work. Has anyone done this successfully and how did they do it? Please help!!!

I have done exactly what you describe and it worked for me. Are you working in your local? Is that what they sent you? Is your Revit username the same in both locations?

It is a copy of my local file and and my username is the same in both locations. From what I understand from the help menu you are opening the local file and making all of the worksets editable thus making you the owner. This works out fine because I am the only one who will be working on this file. Then it is saved and the ownership is maintained ensuring that they remain editable as the same user. But because I don't have access to the central file I can't do anything with the file I was sent.

If your the only one who is working on the project, why bother with the working offline stuff. Just copy the central file take it home with you and work on it directly. Then just copy over the one at work the next day. You will have to resave it as the central file because it will change locations on the hard drive but thats simple to do.

Thanks. Yeah that's what I ended up doing. One thing I noticed though, as I'm working it doesn't give me the option to save. I've had to save as every time as I've been working. Do you know what's happening here?

Maybe I do. When you open the file look down at the bottom of the open file dialog. There's a couple of checkboxes one for "Detach from Central" and one for "Create new local". Maybe your creating a new local each time you open the central. I think Revit forces you to do a "Save As" then.

You're right. That's probably what I should have done. What I found though is that the save interval does still occur which allows me save. Also I found if you select the synchronize with central it saves it just the same. It all worked out and now I can work anywhere! Aruba sounds nice. Revit on the beach.
