While saerching for hours for this problem -I am sure it was already posted before on this forum- I found this in the Revit manual:

 Although everyone in forums uses the line styles trick like the very well explained one here:

But I would like to solve this issue more tidy: Does anyone have a clue how Autodesk managed to make automatic overhead lines in their manual??

just a wild guess, overlay with reflected ceiling plan...?
