We are working on an office building shell and core. We are asked if we could do the tenant finish out of a few spaces in Revit. I am wondering if linking the "existing" shell and core building in to a file and then buidling out the office space as a lined file. The shell and core is about 4 to 6 months before the tenant imporvement would happen and priving and finishes would determine that plus it is a totally seperate project for billing and contracts. {In cad we xref the shell in as a seperate file but i know REVIT is a seperate animal.} I am looking for advice on how to best procede with this (and future since this is coming up in other build-outs and hospitals) from the community.

I think you are on the right track except instead of x-ref the term is linked model. Each build-out would be its own project.
