I currently have my door tag to always align with the door, however it shows up at the insertion point and not next to the door itself. I can, of course, move the tag next to the door and everything is fine, but I would like to eliminate this extra step of grabbing and dragging the element. I have found that I can move the location of the tag in the family editor relative to the insertion point, but this only works for one out of the four possible door locations (top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right). Once I insert a door that opens in another direction the tag is no longer next to the door. Is it possible to make a parameter so that when I insert a door I can select the door tag and choose an option in the properties to move the tag to the correct position? I see it as having all four options able to select. (i.e. Select: "Top Right" and the tag moves up and right relative to the insertion point) I also thought of using different family types in the Door Tag family, but I don't seem to be able to do that. (It may be that I just don't know what I'm doing) Any ideas to help me out with this? Seems like a good work around for the frustration of aligning the door tags with the door itself. Thanks! You can use the visibility setting to do this. Open the annotation and create the four different labels within the same annotation then use parameter settings to make the proper label show. That way the annotoation family will have 4 children, one for each option. You can then pick which child to use while your tagging doors.

Thanks Paul - I got it to work. Now you have to select the correct orientation in the type selector. We'll see if anyone in the office will actually use this or will simply drag the tag to the correct position. This didn't seem to save as much time/effort as I was hoping.
