Hello, I'm a first time poster and have seen many threads about void forms not working and the suggestion to use cut geometry, but I haven't been able to use the cut geometry tool with a sweep. The method I've been using to cut the sweep is 1. Select Sweep and do "Edit in Place" 2. Select Work Plane 3. Create a Void Extrusion along the top of the sweep to align it with the beam (see picture) 4. Error appears saying "Some Void Forms of this family do not cut anything and will be deleted. To make a Void Form cut something else use the Cut Geometry tool." The void forms clearly goes through the sweep, and this process worked on the middle piece (see picture), but I'm getting error messages on the other two. Any ideas? I also tried making a generic model to use the cut geometry tool, but it wouldn't work with the sweep. Thank you.

Voids must intersect "Something" to cut in same category, you said: "...and this process worked on the middle piece (see picture), but I'm getting error messages on the other two." - they are in the same family and category? (You create that family sweep and the other two at same time OR you create one family then you finish the family, then you create ANOTHER family and so on)???, after this you must use the "Cut geometry" tool before you finish the family.

Each sweep is a different piece. The cut geometry tool wasn't working whether I was in "Edit in Place" or not. Other threads had videos, but the links are either expired or changed. Is there a more current video I can watch?

You image does nothing for us. If you are doing an in-place void family, you have to cut the object before you finish the family - not afterwards.

I attached the image just so you could see the overall goal, I apologize if you found it unhelpful. I'm saying that the cut geometry tool wasn't working, so is there an updated tutorial video that can help me?

This image is the goal of the void form (it's been elongated to ridiculous measures just so you can see it clearly).

Well you can see what you want. I still don't know what you are talking about from the image. Where is the void and what are you trying to cut? Is the void the box? Are you trying to cut the roof? Are you trying to cut multiple objects? We can not guess. And as I said, "...If you are doing an in-place void family, you have to cut the object before you finish the family - not afterwards."
