I created a custom lamp using the generic family template. I used the correct reference plane (ie: base of lamp is at table height) and saved it in my imperial library as I may reuse for other projects. Problem: When I try to load it into a project it won't show up. I go to the family menu in the project browser, click on the name of the lamp and drag it to the screen. My cursor becomes a circle with a line in it (like the "no ___ing" symbol). ALL Visibility graphics categories are on. Item shows in the components dropdown but won't appear on screen. What am i missing? P.S. I am using the Architecture 2010 version.

That symbol appears because Revit can't place that family in that view or in that "Work plane", try in a 3D view and see if you can place it...
