I have a problem with my steel columns not showing as hidden (thin lines and dashed) when they should. when i am in fine view they seem show as i had indended, columns below are shown in a thinner pen and are dashed, however, i need to be in course view so that my beams show as chain dotted lines. When in course view all the steel columns show up as the same line thickness and all are solid. I have concrete columns at other levels that are showing correctly in course view. Any ideas what i am doingh wrong?

could be that it is structural framing showing up symbolically at course view setting? I'd need you to be more specific about which lines your seeing in order to better answer.

THANKS FOR THE REPLY. hAVE ATTACHED 3 PICS TO HOPEFULLY HELP EXPLAIN THE SITUATION. I SET HIDDEN STRUCTURAL COLUMN LINES TO GREEN IN THE GRAPHICS OVER-RIDE TO HIGHLIGHT THEM FIRSTLY FINE. (WITH THIN LINES TURNED ON FOR CLARITY) . YOU CAN SEE THE THE GREEN COLUMN IS ALSO DASHED AS IT SHOULD BE. THE COLUMN TO THE NORTH (S2) IS ALSO SHOWN CORRECTLY AS SOLID. UNFORTUNATELY I CAN'T USE FINE VIEW AS I NEED THE BEAMS TO PRINT OUT AS CHAIN DOTTED LINES SECONDLY COURSE (WITH TIN LINES TURNED OFF) YOU CAN SEE THAT BOTH COLUMNS NOW PRINT OUT THE SAME, AND ALSO THAT THE ONE THAT WAS DASHED AND GREEN BEOFRE IS NOW SOLID AND BLACK. ALSO THE COARSE VIEW WHEN THIN LINES ARE TURNED ON SHOWS THREE LINES (CAPITAL I) RATHER THAN THE FULL OUTLINE OF THE STEEL AS IN THE OTHER VIEWS. LASTLY COARSE WITH STRUCTURAL COLUMNS SET TO DISPLAY AS FINE. (AGAIN THIN LINES TURNED ON) HERE THE COLUMN THAT SHOULD BE DASHED AND GREEN AS IN THE FIRST EXAMPLE IS SOLID AND BLACK, EVEN THOUGH STRUCTURAL COLUMNS ARE SET TO FINE. IS THERE A STRAIGHT FORWARD ANSWER TO THIS? I BELIEVE THAT I CAN EDIT THE FAMILY OF STRUCTURAL COLUMNS SO THAT IN COURSE VIEW MY STEEL COLUMNS BEHAVE MORE LINE THE CONCRETE COLUMNS (I.E. THAT IT KEEPS THE ACTUAL SHAPE OF THE SECTION RATHER THAN SHOWING IT SYMBOLICALLY) ANY IDEASANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

I'm reading into this maybe a little much but what I would anticipate is that in the family of the column there are symbolic lines that appear only in course view that are overshadowing the dashed lines you are trying to show or the dashed lines are from model geometery that isn't even set to show in course view. I would suspect that it was something to do with visibility settings within the column family. -aaron
