I am hoping somebody will be able to help me with this one. I am attempting to install a recessed lighting fixture in a soffit that I have modeled as a ceiling component. The fixture will attach to the soffit and cut the face but the light housing will be suspended below the soffit. I have tried adjusting all the model properties and this still happens. I have modeled the soffit as a solid and shaped it using negative spaces. Are the light fixtures not attaching properly because of the way that I model the soffit? Will the light fixtures only attach to a certain face of a model component? Please help

Ceilings are system families. You can create in-place elements in the ceiling category but they may not function as a normal ceiling. Try creating and using a face based family.
